Paris Saint-Germain stormed into the final of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup with a commanding 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid in Pasadena, delivering a performance that combined technical precision, attacking flair, and ruthless efficiency.
In front of a crowd of 80,619 at the Rose Bowl, the French champions set the tone early, enjoying over 80% possession in the opening 15 minutes under sweltering conditions. Midfielder Fabian Ruiz gave PSG a deserved lead, drilling a low effort into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
Atletico had chances to respond, with Gonçalo Ramos missing three efforts on goal, but PSG doubled their lead just before halftime. Vitinha glided through the heart of the Atleti defense and calmly slotted past Jan Oblak to give his side a strong grip on the contest.
Oblak remained busy after the break, producing a fingertip save to push Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s curling shot onto the crossbar. Atletico briefly thought they had pulled one back when Julian Alvarez found the net, but the goal was chalked off for a foul in the build-up.
The Spanish side’s task became even harder in the 78th minute when Clement Lenglet received a second yellow card for dissent, after protesting a non-call when Oblak appeared impeded while distributing the ball.
Atletico squandered a golden opportunity late on when Alexander Sørloth failed to convert from close range. PSG punished them moments later, as substitute Senny Mayulu added a third with a composed finish in the 87th minute.
There was late drama in added time. Ibrahim Mbaye struck the post for PSG, and following a VAR review, Atletico’s Robin Le Normand was penalized for handball. Lee Kang-in stepped up to convert the resulting penalty, capping a dominant display by the Parisians.
With this emphatic win, PSG now march into the Club World Cup final brimming with confidence and aiming to clinch yet another international title.
