Communications Minister Samuel George has announced significant enhancements to data bundle allocations across all major telecommunications networks in Ghana, set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra today, the Minister detailed the outcome of successful negotiations with network operators. “I am pleased to announce that my engagement with the CEOs has resulted in the following specific measures,” he stated.
Details of the Adjustments:
- AirtelTigo Ghana (AT Ghana):
- 10% increase across all data bundles
- GH₵400 bundle upgraded from 195GB to 236GB
- Telecel Ghana:
- 10% increase across all data bundles
- GH₵400 bundle expanded from 90GB to 250GB
- MTN Ghana:
- 15% increase across all data bundles
- Restoration of the GH₵399 bundle offering 214GB (previously revised to GH₵350 for 92.88GB)
Minister George acknowledged the financial implications for telecom operators, stating:
“I am aware these increases will come at considerable cost to the network operators. However, I am glad that our engagements and consultations are bearing fruit for the Ghanaian people.”
He extended his appreciation to the CEOs of the telecom companies for their collaboration, emphasizing the strengthened relationship between the government and the communications industry.
These changes form part of the government’s broader efforts to improve digital access and ensure better value for consumers in Ghana’s telecommunications sector.
